Delete your Pointer account

You can delete your Pointer account and its data at any time, in the app or by email. By email, you do not need the app installed, and you do not need to reinstall it.

In the app

Open the Account page and tap Delete my account, then confirm. It happens at once, in every country, including where friend mode is not available (the EU, EEA, UK, Gibraltar, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man): an account made elsewhere and still signed in on your phone can be deleted there too.

By email

1. Email privacy@hochly.com with the subject Delete my Pointer account.
2. Send it from the email address you sign in with. If you signed in with Apple and chose to hide your email, tell us the name you use in Pointer and the names of one or two of your friends instead.
3. We may reply with a question to make sure the account is yours. Then we delete it and tell you when it is done, within 30 days of your email.

What is deleted

• Your account id, your sign-in identity (your email address, or your Apple or Google account id and what that provider shared), and the name you chose.
• Your friend connections. You disappear from your friends' lists.
• The nicknames you gave friends, and the ones they gave you.
• Your phones' push tokens, so no notification that a friend is pointing at you reaches them.
• Your invites, any session you are in (it ends for your friend too), and any location fixes still held.
• The blocks and Nearby report records that name you.
• Deleting in the app also asks Google or Apple to remove Pointer's access to the account you signed in with. That request is best effort: after an email request, or if Pointer still shows there, you can remove it yourself in your Google or Apple account settings.

What is kept, and for how long

• Nothing of your friend-mode data stays in our database, apart from the notices sent to your phone that your friend list changed (your account id and a time, nothing else), which our live-messaging service deletes within a few days.
• The account service's security logs (IP address and user agent of past sign-ins) are kept for 1 day, then deleted.
• Web request logs from opening Pointer's web pages are kept by our host, Vercel, about 1 hour in the logs available to us.
• Feedback you sent from the About page is kept as an email for up to 2 years. It carries no account id; ask in the same email if you want it deleted too.
• Where you parked stays on your phone until you delete the app.

Deleting the app alone does not delete the account on our server, but with no app, nothing more is shared.
